NEW GLARUS - Monroe lost the championship of the Sugar River Soccer Invitational to Platteville Saturday, 1-0.

Monroe had knocked off Lakeside Lutheran in the qualifying game, 5-0. Kelli Isaj scored a goal off of a penalty kick in the first half for the Cheesemakers, which had pressured Lakeside's goalkeeper repeatedly. In the second half, Monroe added on the goals.

Sugar River lost its first game to Platteville, 1-0, then fell to Lakeside Lutheran in the third-place game, 3-2.

Monroe's next game is Tuesday at Monona Grove while the Raiders are home Tuesday against Cambridge.
