MONROE - Each of Monroe's top two golfers had one hole with a triple bogey, and the Cheesemakers dropped a Badger South Conference match to Milton by four stokes 157-161 Friday at the Monroe Country Club.

"It's tough," Monroe coach Braden Rindy said. "It's not all clicking at the same time. Hopefully, going into conference we can have it all straightened out."

Monroe junior Matt Miller shot a 5-over-par 39 on the front nine. Miller had pars on the first three holes before settling for bogeys on No. 4 and No. 5. He triple bogeyed the 152-yard No. 6. Monroe senior Eric Timm shot a 40 and was 1-under after a birdie on the 559-yard No. 3. Timm had a triple bogey on the 434-yard No. 4.

"We just had some uncharacteristic shots," Rindy said. "It's not often our top two golfers triple bogey."

Monroe freshman Nick Baumann and sophomore Tanner Thompson each shot a 41. The highlight for Baumann came on No. 6. He chipped in a shot for birdie on No. 6.

"With Matt, Eric and Nick, it's just a toss of the hat to see who will be the top and have the lowest score," Rindy said. "Nick had a couple of uncharacteristic shots where he was in the woods a couple of times."

Rindy said Miller has been the most consistent golfer for the Cheesemakers recently.

Monroe will play in the Badger Conference tournament at the House of the Rock Golf Course in Spring Green on Wednesday.

"We are going to use that as a practice round for the sectional," Rindy said.

Monroe will golf in the Evansville regional Wednesday, June 4. The top four teams advance to the sectional.

"We will be disappointed if we don't make it to sectionals this year," Rindy said.
