Cheese dominate Stoughton

STOUGHTON - The Monroe tennis team continued its unbeaten season Tuesday with a 7-0 win at Stoughton.

Monroe senior Lauri Juonela at No. 1 singles defeated Mike Palmer in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1. Sophomore Carson Root at No. 2 singles defeated Nick Larsen, 6-0, 6-1.

At No. 3 singles, senior Matt Le defeated Kyle Odette, 6-2, 6-1. Eric Knudtson at No. 4 singles defeated Thor Jeppson, 6-0, 6-0. With the win, Monroe improves to 9-0 in dual meets, and 3-0 in the Badger South.

Seniors Artem Beer and Jim Kundert at No. 1 doubles won a tight match in two sets, 6-3, 6-3, over Taylor Shaffer and Jason Lazenby.

At No. 2 doubles, Pat Gellings and Garrett Tschanz defeated Stoughton's Mike Ringstad and Zach Opheim, 6-2, 6-2.

The Cheesemakers' No. 3 doubles team of Mark Hoesly and Dan Becker improved to 12-0 on the season by beating Stoughton's Luke Stacey and Mitchell Jackson, 6-1, 6-1.

The Cheesemakers' junior-varsity team beat Stoughton, 6-1. Monroe will host Oregon in a Badger South match Thursday.
