OREGON - The Cheesemakers' girls basketball team opened Saturday's Badger South matchup on fire and cruised to a 44-29 win.
Monroe outscored the Panthers 17-2 in the opening quarter and led 25-8 at halftime.
By the time the third quarter rolled around, the Lady Cheese held a 35-17 lead and a nearly assured victory.
Senior forwards Ashley Hermanson and Jamie Armstrong each scored 14 points to lead Monroe. Also, Armstrong nailed the game's only two 3-pointers.
The Cheesemakers (4-0, 2-0) shot just seven free throws in the game, making four. Oregon (2-2, 1-1) was an abysmal 1-for-8 from the charity stripe.
Monroe next plays at Baraboo Friday.
