SOUTH WAYNE - Catholic Central pounded out 11 hits and rolled past Black Hawk 10-3 in a WIAA Division 4 regional championship game Thursday, May 30.
Catholic Central scored five runs in the fifth inning to cruise to the lightning-shortened game. The game was suspended in the third inning due to lightning and again in the sixth before it was called.
Black Hawk senior Merik Meythaler went 2-for-3 to lead the Warriors. The Warriors were limited to six hits. Black Hawk senior Michael Powers had a double.
Meythaler pitched six innings and gave up 10 runs on 11 hits. He struck out four and walked five.
Black Hawk reached the regional championship by beating Albany 8-6 Wednesday.
