Cards take fourth at Deerfield

DEERFIELD - The Brodhead-Juda wrestling team had five wrestlers place in the top four at the Deerfield Scramble Saturday.

The Cardinals finished fourth as a team with 583 points. Weston-Ithaca won the championship (716).

Brodhead-Juda sophomore Hunter Colden, at 152 pounds, went 3-1, had two pins and finished second. In the championship match, Colden lost to A.J. Zemke of Oshkosh Lourdes, 9-4.

The Cardinals had a quartet of wrestlers take fourth place including Jordan Kraak (103), Cale Zettle (135), Kramer Lewis (160); and Dylan Severson at heavyweight.

WISCONSIN DELLS - The Sugar River wrestling team finished ninth out of 10 teams at the Wisconsin Dells tournament.

Sugar River senior Mike Nolden (189) went 3-0 and recorded two pins. Nolden defeated Waunakee's Josh Wipperfurth 16-5 in the title match. Sugar River freshman Young-Chul Vetterli (135) took second place and went 2-1 in the tournament. He was pinned in the championship match by Wisconsin Dells' Jon Mor in 2 minutes, 26 seconds. Sugar River sophomore Taylor Christen (112) finished fourth. The Raiders got sixth-place finishes from freshman Brett Grinder (130) and junior Brooks Hendrickson (140).
