Cards earn split with Cougars, Redbirds win

CLINTON - The Brodhead-Juda baseball team split a doubleheader with Clinton.

The Cardinals beat Clinton 5-4 and the Cougars handed Brodhead-Juda a 2-0 loss.

Brodhead-Juda's Tyler Malcook went 2 for 3 to lead the Cardinals at the plate.

Brodhead-Juda senior Carson Scheidegger pitched a complete game. He gave up four earned runs on eight hits. Schei-degger struck out two and didn't walk a batter.

In the second game, the Cardinals out-hit the Cougars 5-2, but were shut out. Brodhead-Juda pitcher Trent Gerlach pitched a complete game and gave up two runs on two hits.

Brodhead-Juda as the No. 6 seed will open up regional play Friday, May 27 at No. 3 seed Monroe.

Darlington 4, Southwestern 3

HAZEL GREEN - The Redbirds received a solid pitching performance from senior Wade Black and got some timely offense to knock off Southwestern.

Black went the distance and gave up just three earned runs on five hits. He struck out two.

The Redbirds scored two runs in the third and fourth. Darlington's Brandon Heins had a double.
