BRODHEAD - The Brodhead softball team split a doubleheader with Palmyra-Eagle on Saturday.
Palmyra-Eagle edged the Cardinals 4-2 in the first game. In the second game of the twin bill, Brodhead clipped Palmyra-Eagle 4-3.
In the first game, Brodhead's McKenna Bump went 3-for-4 with one RBI. The Cardinals had seven hits to the Panthers' five. Brodhead junior Azzy Steiner pitched a complete game and gave up three earned runs on five hits. She struck out five and walked five.
In the second game of the doubleheader, the Cardinals outdueled Palmyra-Eagle with just three hits. Bump scored two runs. Brodhead senior Ali Rosheisen, junior Whitney Gerber and Steiner each had one RBI.
Steiner picked up the win on the mound. She gave up three earned runs on five hits. Steiner struck out five and walked three.
