Cardinals run against Turner, Palmyra-Eagle

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead-Juda boys track and field team split their meet with Palmyra-Eagle and Beloit Turner Tuesday as the 400-meter relay team captured first place with a time of 3:59.4.

Junior J. J. Panoske soared 5 feet, 10 inches to take first in the high jump, and second-place finishers included sophomore Trent Jordan in the 100-meter dash (11.4 seconds) and junior Cory Steiner in the 200 (23.4 seconds).

The Cardinals defeated Palmyra-Eagle, 118-26. Beloit Turner topped Brodhead-Juda, 93-53, and Palmyra-Eagle, 126-18.

In the girls' meet, the Cardinals defeated both Beloit Turner and Palmyra Eagle. The Cardinals topped Beloit Tunrer, 92-46, and rolled past Palmyra-Eagle, 89-46. Beloit Turner defeated Palmyra-Eagle 80-57.

The Cardinals' wins were highlighted by senior Amanda Johnson's victory in the 400-meter dash (1:09.4) and senior Rachel Nolte taking first in the pole vault (8 feet). Sophomore Heather Clankie grabbed first place in the shot put (32 feet, 3 inches) and the discus throw (126-10).

Brohead-Juda's 800-meter relay team also finished in first place with a time of 12:29.7. Brodhead-Juda's next meet is Friday in an invitational at Clinton.
