BRODHEAD - The Cardinals torched Beloit Turner 53-23 on Friday night.
Despite starting slow, Brodhead soon found their feet.
Dana Lewis and Kristen Ruchti scored all seven of the Cardinals first quarter points, and Brodhead went into the second quarter with a 7-2 lead over the Trojans.
In the second quarter, the Cardinals opened the flood gates.
Lewis scored 10 of her game-high 20 points in the frame. Alyssa Harding added a pair of 3-pointers and Brodhead outscored Beloit Turner 20-4 in the second to close out the half.
In the third quarter, the Cardinals went back to work. Ruchti scored seven of her 12 points in the period and Brodhead held a firm 44-18 lead headed into the fourth quarter.
With the win, the Cardinals (16-3, 14-1) have now clinched at least a share of the Rock Valley South Conference title. Orfordville Parkview (16-3, 13-2) is still mathematically in the equation. The Vikings need to beat Turner (1-15, 1-13) on Feb. 19 and have the Cardinals lose in order to tie. Should Brodhead beat Palmyra-Eagle (3-16, 2-13) that same night, Brodhead will carry the trophy alone.
