Cardinal girls run to third

EDGERTON - The Brodhead-Juda girls track team finished third at the Rock Valley Conference meet on Saturday.

Brodhead-Juda senior Taylor Bluemel won a conference championship in the 1,600-meter run with a time of 5 minutes, 19.12 seconds. Bluemel took second in the 3,200 (11:39.51).

Bluemel teamed with senior Amber Pickel, senior Cameron Novy and sophomore Cora Purdue to win the 3,200 relay (9:41.64), which was 0.11 seconds ahead of Evansville.

Jefferson racked up 187 points to run away with the conference title over runner-up East Troy (103).

The Cardinals' 1,600 relay team of Pickel, Novy, Purdue and sophomore Morgan Tresemer finished third (4:21.91).

Brodhead-Juda sophomore Cora Purdue finished second in the 800 (2:25.05) and sophomore Madee Harding was third in the 200 (27.05) and fourth in the 400 (1:01.49). Sophomore teammate Sage Harper took third in the discus (110 feet, 10 inches).

In the boys' conference meet, Brodhead-Juda took fifth with 59.5 points. McFarland ran away with the team title 142.5-103 over East Troy.

The Cardinals' 3,200 relay team of junior Nate Ciabatti, senior Jakob Harper, junior Noah Steinmann and junior Tyler Urness won a conference title with a time of 8:19.77.

Harper took second in the 800 (2:03.53). Harper teamed with Steinmann, sophomore Justice Tway and junior Ruben Larson to take third in the 1,600 relay (3:37). Larson finished fourth in the 300 hurdles (41.83).

Brodhead-Juda sophomore Brekan Day took fourth in the high jump after clearing 5-10 and freshman Theo Policastro took fourth in the pole vault (9-6).
