MEQUON - Monroe's Kyle Bruce made the cut after the first round at the Wisconsin State Junior Championship at the River Club of Mequon on Monday.
Bruce shot a 5-over-77 and is in a 15-way tie for 35th place. Ryonen Faris of Golf Courses of Lawsonia shot a 2-under-70 and has a one shot lead over Mitchell Johnson and Josh Smith (71).
Bruce birdied the 550-yard No. 12 and the 390-yard No. 15. He finished the first round with 10 pars. He settled for a double bogey on the 165-yard No. 4.
