Brodhead-Juda wins conference title

WALWORTH - The Brodhead-Juda boys track team won eight conference titles en route to winning the Rock Valley South Conference championship Saturday.

Brodhead-Juda senior Dylan Johnson won the 1,600 and 3,200-meter runs. In the 1,600, he finished first with a time of 4 minutes, 45.82 seconds. He won the 3,200 in 10:33.92. The Cardinals edged Clinton for the conference title 173-162.

Junior Logan Maurer won the discus (150 feet, 9 inches) and took second in the shot put (44-8). Senior Jordan Kraak finished first in the 100 (11.56) and senior Clay Welte won the pole vault (12-0). Freshman Tyler Urness took first in the 800 (2:15.26).

The Cardinals won three of the four relays including the 400, 800 and 3,200 relays. Kraak teamed with Mitchell Johnson, Corey Segner and Jake Pickel to win the 400 relay (46.31). In the 800 relay, Kraak teamed with Jordan Douglas, Pickel and Dylan Kubly to win with a time of 1:38.14. The Cardinals' 3,200 relay team of Ruben Larson, Jakob Harper, Urness and Johnson won with a time of 9:14.6.

The Brodhead-Juda girls track team finished third with 121.8 points. Clinton outdistanced Beloit Turner for the team title 152.4-125.8.

Brodhead-Juda senior Alicia Condon won the shot put (33-10) and the discus (112-0). Senior Carly Mohns finished first in the long jump (14-11 1/2) and junior Paige Hoesly took second in the triple jump (28-2). Sophomore Taylor Bluemel won the 3,200 (12:12.96).

Senior Meg Duffield took second in the 400 (1:03.85) and the Cardinals finished second in the 1,600 relay (4:36.11) and second in the 3,200 relay (11:02.40).
