Brodhead-Juda girls sweep Clinton, Palmyra-Eagle

BRODHEAD - The Brodhead-Juda girls track team won nine of 18 events en route to winning a triple dual meet on Tuesday.

The Cardinals beat Clinton, 83-61, and defeated Palmyra-Eagle, 91-55.

Heather Clankie won both the shot put (30-feet, 7 inches) and the discus (95-1).

Brodhead-Juda junior Rachel Nolte won the pole vault with a height of 7-6. Brodhead senior Cassie Wymer won the 800-meter run with a time of 2 minutes, 37.5 seconds. Wymer also anchored the winning 1,600 relay team. The 1,600 relay team finished in the top spot by running a 4:35.1, which was four-tenths of a second faster than Palmyra-Eagle. The Cardinals added a first place in the 800 relay.

Amanda Johnson won the 200 (:29.6) and Shannon Klein won the 400 (1:01.4).

The Brodhead-Juda boys track team split the meet by defeating Palmyra-Eagle, 110-34 and falling to Clinton, 97-49. Senior Jordan Riemer won the 1,600 with a time of 5:02.5 and he took the top spot in the pole vault by clearing 11-0.

Brodhead-Juda's Kevin Earleywine won the high jump (5-4) and he finished first in the triple jump (36-1 1/2). Brodhead senior Ryan Miller won the 100 hurdles (:16.9) and the Cardinals finished first in the 400 relay.
