Bright shines for Knights

BELLEVILLE - Senior Ryan Bright belted a pair of home runs and drove in five runs to lead the Glarner Knights to a 6-3 win over the Belleville Wildcats Tuesday in a Capitol South matchup.

Bright's power display and junior Braden Pittman's three hits helped the Glarner Knights take a 6-0 lead while senior Nick Stuessy held the Wildcats scoreless through five innings.

Stuessy fanned 12 and surrendered just four hits to earn the win.

New Glarus (4-8, 3-5 Capitol South) will host Marshall in a doubleheader Saturday.

Jefferson 4, Brodhead-Juda 3 (Eight innings)

BRODHEAD - Trailing 3-1 in the seventh inning, the Brodhead-Juda Cardinals tied the game to send it into extra innings, but the Jefferson Eagles scored in the top of the eighth inning of Rock Valley Conference action Tuesday.

Seniors Thomas Rear and Billy Sangermano each got a double for the Cardinals.

Junior Carson Scheidegger pitched all eight innings for Brodhead-Juda, giving up nine hits and three earned runs. He walked four and struck out seven.

Brodhead-Juda (1-8, 0-8 Rock Valley South) travels to Clinton Thursday.
