BLANCHARDVILLE - Three Monroe Brewers pitchers combined on a 4-0 shutout of Blanchardville in a Home Talent Night League game Thursday.

Brewers co-player manager Rooney Janecke pitched three shutout innings, but hit three batters. Ben Korth, Brewers reliever, struck out eight in three innings. Cody Boals struck out all three batters he faced in the seventh for Monroe.

"With Rooney, he's just old and can only pitch three innings," Brewers co-player manager Lon Scheuerell said. "We got rained out Sunday. We wanted to get the guys some work for the upcoming weekend."

Monroe (3-1) scored three runs in the first inning. Monroe's Mitch Marty reached on an error, then Janecke singled. Scheuerell followed with an RBI single to score Marty. The big hit in the inning came on Matt Busjahn's two-out, two-run single that gave the Brewers a 3-0 lead.

The Brewers added a run in the sixth, when Monroe graduate Taylor Riese delivered an RBI single after Busjahn, who was 2-for-4 with two RBIs, singled and Monroe's Kris Rieder was hit by a pitch.

Riese and Nick Diemer were each 2-for-3.
