WIOTA - The Monroe Brewers remain in contention for the Home Talent League Western Section's No. 1 seed and killed Wiota's playoff hopes with a 17-2 pounding of the Indians on Sunday.
Monroe (10-3) pounded out 15 hits. The Brewers exploded for 10 runs in the second inning, which included Justin Hahn's three-run homer.
The Brewers had five players with multi-hit games including Shawn Dascher (4-for-5) with three RBI, Rooney Janecke (3-for-5) with two RBI, Hahn (2-for-4 with three RBI), Cody Boals (2-for-4 with four RBI) and Mike Cleary (2-for-5).
"We want to get a top two seed," Brewers co-player manager Lon Scheuerell said. "Every game is a must win so we can get a first round bye."
Boals pitched five innings and gave up two earned runs on six hits. He struck out seven and walked four.
Brad Schliem went 2-for-3 to lead WIota.
Wiota starting pitcher Brock Bidlingmaier pitched five innings and gave up 13 earned runs on 11 hits. He struck out six, walked two and hit one.

MONROE - The Brewers clinched a spot in the Home Talent Sunday League playoffs by dismantling the Bullets.
Ben Korth pitched a complete game and allowed just two ninth inning runs to pick up the win on the mound.
Monroe got to Blanchardville starter Josh Hathaway early and often, scoring four runs in the first and five more in the sixth.
