Brewers breeze by Tourists

MONROE - The top four hitters in the Monroe Brewers line-up were money on Sunday.

The top four hitters collected eight of Monroe's nine hits as the Brewers beat the New Glarus Tourists 7-4.

The Brewers (4-2) received a good pitched game from Cody Boals who pitched eight innings to get the win. Boals gave up four runs on five hits and he had 11 strikeouts.

In the second inning, Boals was hit by a pitch and Adam Siegnthaler singled. When Siegnthaler stole second, Boals scored when the throw down to second went into center fielder. Justin Hanhn followed with an RBI single to give the Brewers a 3-0 lead.

Shawn Dascher, who was 2-for-4, came through with a two-run single in the fourth inning. Dascher stole second and third and Rooney Janecke delivered an RBI single to give the Brewers a 6-0 lead.

Brewers player-manager Lon Scheuerell went 3-for-4 at the plate and Hahn was 2-for-3.

The Tourists broke through for four runs in the eighth. Wade Hanna, who was 3-for-5 singled, and Stein Rear walked to load the bases. Mark Hamilton walked to bring in a run and Chris Rear reached on an error. Vance Vlasak, who was 2-for-2, delivered a two-run single.

New Glarus pitcher Kyle Spurley pitched five innings and gave up six runs on seven hits and struck out eight.
