BLANCHARDVILLE - Black Hawk's boys basketball team nearly blew a 14-point fourth-quarter lead Tuesday before holding on to knock off Pecatonica 51-48 in a rematch from earlier this season.

In December, the Vikings (6-7, 3-4 Six Rivers East) went to South Wayne and outplayed Black Hawk (8-4, 3-2) en route to an early-season win. Since then, the two teams have gone in opposite directions.

The Warriors led 13-11 after the first quarter and 27-18 at halftime. That lead extended to 38-24 at the end of the third quarter.

The Vikings scored as many points in the fourth quarter as they did in the first three combined, but came up just short.

Michael Place led all scorers with 21 points for the Warriors. Payton Schliem added 18 points for Black Hawk, which shot just 16-of-33 from the free throw line.

Caleb Feller hit four 3-pointers and scored 20 points for Pecatonica, and Jeremy Meudt scored 16 points with three 3s.

Black Hawk goes back to work against Argyle (4-7, 3-4) on Friday, while the Vikings travel to conference leader Barneveld (11-2, 6-1).

DARLINGTON 69, MINERAL POINT 47

MINERAL POINT - The Redbirds pulled off the perfect fourth quarter.

After leading 30-28 at halftime, Darlington (7-7, 4-4 SWAL) found itself tied up with conference rival Mineral Point (6-8, 5-3) at 47-47 at the end of the third. The Redbirds then finished the game on a 22-0 run over the final eight minutes to blow away the Miners.

Sophomore sensation Alex Erickson scored a game-high 31 points, including four 3-pointers, for Darlington. Ethan Pickett added 15 points and Tyler Shager chipped in nine points in the win.

The Redbirds finished the game going 17-for-23 from the free throw line, while committing only six fouls.
