DARLINGTON - The Darlington boys basketball team received a sort of "blessing in disguise" in its 64-53 win Tuesday over Dodgeville when leading scorer Alex Erickson went cold from the floor for much of the game.

"It really is sort of a blessing in disguise - as weird as that sounds," Darlington head coach Mike Hopkins said. "Other guys stepped up and we had some good balanced scoring all night."

Eight Redbirds scored in the contest, with Ethan Pickett (15 points) leading the team. Erickson had 13 points, with seven coming in the fourth quarter.

Tanner Havens (nine points), Tyler Shager (eight), and Colton Carpenter (six) all helped the team throughout the night.

Darlington led 17-14 after the first quarter and 32-23 at halftime. A big third quarter in which the Redbirds outscored the Dodgers 21-13 sealed the deal.

"Everybody contributed. It was a good win," Hopkins said.

BRODHEAD 60, BIG FOOT 52

WALWORTH - Three Cardinals finished the game in double figures as Brodhead (4-4, 1-3 Rock Valley South) used a big fourth quarter to knock a win away from conference rival Walworth Big Foot (2-3, 1-3).

Brodhead trailed 16-12 after the first quarter and 26-24 at halftime. By the end of the third quarter, the Cardinals had tied the score at 34-34. In the fourth quarter, Brodhead outscored Big Foot, 26-18.

The game was dominated by fouls. Big Foot was charged with 31 penalties to the Cardinals' 15.

Ryan Miller scored a game-high 19 points for Brodhead with J.J. Panoske (18 points) and Jacob Cole (10 points) also reaching double figures.

The Cardinals host Beloit Turner (4-4, 2-3) on Friday night.

PLATTEVILLE 68, PECATONICA 41

PLATTEVILLE - The Hillmen (3-3, 0-1 Southwest Wisconsin) took it to the Vikings early and often. Pecatonica mustered only six points in the first quarter and trailed 29-21 at halftime.

In the third quarter, the Vikings were outscored 21-9.

Kaleb Feller scored 21 points, including three 3-pointers, for Pecatonica (2-6, 1-3 Six Rivers East).

Jeremy Meudt added nine points with two 3-pointers.

Pecatonica hosts conference leader Monticello (6-3, 4-0) on Thursday.
