MONROE - Carl Vanko scored two of the Monroe Blues' four goals in the third period as the Blues skated to a comeback 8-5 win over the DePere Deacons on Saturday in Great Lakes Hockey League action. Blues rookie goalie Justin De Maa got off to a rough start with DePere scoring on the first shot. The Deacons were up 3-0 with 8:34 left in the first period when Drew Komplin scored on assists from Vanko and Brad Giccopoulos.
