Bluemel, Harding shine for Cardinals

EDGERTON - Brodhead-Juda junior Taylor Bluemel won the girls junior race at the Rock Valley Classic Tuesday.

Bluemel finished the 5,000-meter course in 19 minutes, 42.9 seconds. Teammate Danielle Dieckhoff took 16th (24:15.6).

The Cardinals also had the top freshmen runner, as Madee Harding won the race with a time of 21:06.2.

The top two finishers for the Cardinals in the senior race were Sarah Strathman, who finished 30th (28:40.4) and Erin Kloepping who took 31st (28:57.7). In the sophomore race, Brodhead-Juda's Ashley Douglas took 17th (24:58.1) and Marifer Nieto who was 20th (25:24.7). Teammate Kayla Douglas was 23rd (26:01.3).

Brodhead-Juda senior C.J. Hack took sixth place in the boys' senior race with a time of 18:30.8 and teammate Tad Harnack finished 18th (20:23.2). Joey Kleeman took 24th (22:26.8) and Skylar Flannery was 28th (25:39.5).

The Cardinals had three of the top 13 junior runners. Peter Speckman finished eighth (18:56.4) to lead the Cardinals. Josh Pickel took 11th (19:31.4) and Jakob Harper was 13th (19:36.3).

The Cardinals also had three of the top 12 sophomore runners. Reuben Larson took eighth (19:38.4) and Nate Ciabatti was ninth (19:39.8). Teammate Blake Burns finished 12th (20:05.4). In the freshmen race, Alex Augilar took 15th (21:29.2) and Holden Whitledge was 16th (21:30.9).
