Fourth-grade

The Blaze fourth-grade football team improved its record to 4-0 by beating Wisconsin Heights 27-0 on Saturday, Oct. 4. It's the third shutout in a row for the fourth grade team.

Colby Argall scored the first touchdown with a 50-yard run up the middle. Daniel Lapp followed with a 78-yard run up the right sideline for the second touchdown.

Nick Schumacher scored the third touchdown with a short run around the left end and the final touchdown was scored by Wade Sweeney with a 4-yard run up the middle.

Fifth-grade

The fifth-grade Blaze football team improved to 4-0 after beating an undefeated Madison South Side Raiders team 13-6.

The Blaze started on defense and with a third and long, the Raiders tried a pass which was intercepted by Brayden Zettle.

On the very first play of offense, quarterback Keagen Haffele handed the ball off to Zettle who ran for over 50 yards for the touchdown.

Haffele took charge of the offense on the second possession and marched them straight down the field where Sam Kind was able to punch in a 10-yard touchdown run right up the middle. The field goal attempt by Dempzy Foley was successful to make the score 13-0 to end the first quarter.

The Raiders were able to move the ball down the field successfully in the second quarter and scored their only touchdown.

Sixth-grade

The Blaze sixth-graders finished Week 4 with a win over the Belleville-Albany Wildcats 20-6.

Hunter Weckerly had a great game with two fumble recoveries - one on the second play of the game to give the Blaze great field position and the second was for a touchdown.

The Blaze scored again in the third quarter when Carter Sawdey broke away into the secondary of Belleville and scored on a 75-yard run. Alex Tordoff added the PAT kick. The Blaze added their last score when Kyle Walter, Cameron Fiez, Kobe Manor and Jake Kind opened a huge hole to spring Carter Sawdey for a 65-yard TD run. The two-point conversion was stopped short.

Eighth-grade

The eighth-grade Blaze earned both their fourth straight victory and shutout by defeating McFarland one the road 24-0.

With a scoreless tie late in the first half, Cody Wolf dashed for a 55-yard run after a good downfield block by Jacob Flannery. The play set up a 3-yard touchdown run by Chase Hellenbrand. The extra point made the halftime score 8-0.

In the third quarter, the Blaze capitalized on interceptions by Wolf and Hellenbrand with short scoring drives.

Hellenbrand again scored on an 18-yard run and Matt Monahan scored on a 4-yard run. Alex Borowitz was 3 for 3 on extra points.
