HIGHLAND - Black Hawk junior Brody Milz and sophomore Colby Argall combined to rush for 338 yards and score two touchdowns to lead the Warriors to a 26-21 win over Highland on Saturday. With the win, Black Hawk (5-2, 5-2 Six Rivers) clinches a playoff berth.

Milz rushed for 200 yards on 37 carries. Argall rushed for 138 yards on 25 carries and scored two touchdowns. The Warriors racked up 440 total yards including 349 on the ground and ran 72 plays dominating the time of possession to keep a high-powered Cardinals' offense off the field.

"It was a big win," Black Hawk coach Cory Milz said. "It was one we circled on our calendar. We thought it would be a game we had to have to get in the playoffs and determine what kind of team we have."

Black Hawk junior Jett Rufenacht had two receptions for 61 yards and two touchdowns.

Highland's Adam Wolfe had a 35-yard TD run to give the Cardinals an early 7-0 lead in the first quarter. About midway through the first quarter, Argall scored on a 9-yard run, but the Warriors' two-point conversion run failed and the Cardinals led 7-6.

Argall had a 22-yard TD run in the second quarter to give the Warriors a 12-7 lead. With six seconds to go in the second quarter, Black Hawk junior quarterback Michael Flanagan hooked up with Rufenacht on an 11-yard TD pass to give the Warriors an 18-7 lead at the half.

Highland senior quarterback John Ross Linscheid, a University of Minnesota-Duluth football recruit, connected with sophomore Drew Hennessey on a 60-yard TD pass early in the third quarter to cut the Warriors' lead to 18-14.

Midway through the fourth quarter, the Warriors then responded with Brody Milz tossing a 50-yard TD pass to Rufenacht on a halfback pass to give the Warriors a 26-14 lead. Linscheid throw a 34-yard TD pass with 3 minutes left to cut the Warriors' lead to five points. However, Black Hawk was able to run out the clock.

Linscheid entered the game as the leading rusher in the Six Rivers Conference (608 yards and 101 yards per game), but the Warriors bottled him up limiting him to 36 yards rushing on 12 carries. Black Hawk now has two of the conference's top runners: Brody Milz leads the conference in rushing yards with 773 and Argall is third with 683 yards.

"John Ross Linscheid is a tremendous player," Cory Milz said. "He will probably be the conference's player of the year again. They are a really good team."

Black Hawk converted five fourth downs in the game.

"I thought we had to keep the ball away from their explosive offense," Milz said. "Ball possession was key."
