ARGYLE - Black Hawk got some clutch hits from freshman Hannah Herbst and junior Brooke Moore and took advantage of some fielding blunders by Argyle to knock off the Orioles 7-4 Monday.

Black Hawk and Argyle were locked in a 1-1 pitcher's duel into the fifth inning. However, the Warriors erupted with a six-run fifth to key the victory. Argyle (3-4, 1-2 Six Rivers East) committed three errors in the fifth. Herbst had an RBI single and Moore had a key RBI double. Black Hawk junior Abby Baumgartner hit a fly ball to left field that was dropped by the Orioles and it allowed two runs to score.

"We had three errors in the fifth that allowed all those runs to come in," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said of her team that made a sectional final run last year. "We have been having one big inning kill us this year. We have to find a way to get that straightened out."

Black Hawk junior Rachel Ritschard pitched a complete game to get the win. She gave up four earned runs on seven hits. She struck out four and walked four.

Black Hawk sophomore Sam Lovelace went 1-for-2. Moore finished 1-for-3 and Herbst was 1-for-4.

Argyle junior Kari Fischer went 2-for-2 and senior Jenna Langmeier was 2-for-4.

Argyle junior Katie Larson pitched six innings and she gave up three earned runs on two hits. She walked seven and struck out one.

Juda-Albany 13, Pecatonica 4

JUDA - Freshman Nicki Becker did everything she could at the plate and on the mound to propel Juda-Albany to a 13-4 win over Pecatonica Monday.

Becker went 2-for-2 with three RBI and pitched 5 1/3 shutout innings in relief to get the win. She gave up just one hit, struck out three and walked one. Juda-Albany senior Cheynne Ambler started on the mound. Ambler pitched 1 2/3 innings and gave up four unearned runs on one hit. She struck out three and walked four. The Panthers (7-0, 4-0 Six Rivers East) committed two errors that led to the Vikings' four-run second inning.

Juda-Albany junior Danielle Dieckhoff hit a two-run home run in the Panthers' four-run bottom of the second inning to spark the comeback win.

"It would have been easy for the girls to get down on themselves coming off the field," Juda-Albany coach Bill Davis said. "That home run gave them a boost."

Juda-Albany senior Molly Marass went 2-for-3.

Pecatonica senior Emily Scoville pitched six innings and gave up 13 runs on nine hits. She struck out five and walked six.

Juda-Albany is in the middle of a six-game stretch this week. The Panthers are at Argyle today and then play at Benton-Shullsburg Friday before playing three games in the Monroe Invitational Saturday.

"It's not a matter of going undefeated," Davis said. "We need to play good competition. Good competition makes you better. We feel like we have a deep team. That is the purpose for getting in the Monroe tournament."

The Monticello game at Barneveld was postponed.
