SOUTH WAYNE - Junior running back Brody Milz rushed for 81 yards and scored four touchdowns to power the Black Hawk football team to a 54-6 win over Wauzeka-Steuben/Seneca in a WIAA Division 7 first-round playoff game Friday.
Black Hawk (8-2) advances to play at Shullsburg next week.
The Warriors' defense limited Wauzeka-Steuben/ Seneca to 20 rushing yards and 105 total yards.
"I think our kids played as expected," Black Hawk coach Cory Milz said. "They came into this game expecting to win by a lot. We came into this game thinking we could stop their running game cold and that is definitely what we did."
Black Hawk junior quarterback Michael Flanagan completed 6 of 8 passes for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Reece Shelton had two receptions for 107 yards and one touchdown. Sophomore running back Colby Argall rushed for 68 yards on eight carries and caught a 21-yard TD pass.
Argall and Rufenacht each had interceptions.
Milz said Black Hawk is looking forward to a rematch against Shullsburg. Shullsburg defeated the Warriors 24-0 on Aug. 26.
"We are a better team than we were," Milz said. "I think our kids have been looking forward to this game since Week 2."
Darlington 49, Brookwood 8
DARLINGTON - Senior Trevor Johnson rushed for 165 yards and scored three TDs to lead the top-seeded Redbirds past Brookwood in a Division 6 game.
Darlington (10-0), ranked second in the Associated Press small school state poll, erupted for 35 points in the first quarter.
Trevor Johnson put the Redbirds on the board with a 13-yard TD run early in the first quarter. Moments later, he had a 73-yard interception return for a TD to give the Redbirds a 12-0 lead.
Darlington senior Hunter Johnson scored on a 1-yard run and had a 23-yard interception return for a touchdown to help the Redbirds build a 28-0 lead.
Darlington will host Fennimore next Friday.
Pecatonica-Argyle 40, Waterloo 0
ARGYLE - Senior quarterback Logan Green tossed two touchdowns and senior Cam Treuthardt ran for two TDs to lead the Vikings over Waterloo in a Division 6 game.
Green completed 4 of 5 passes for 138 yards and threw two touchdowns. Senior running back Collin Argue rushed for 110 yards on 11 carries. Treuthardt added 51 yards on five carries and had two TDs.
Pecatonica-Argyle (10-0) hosts Markesan next week.
"It's great to get that first Level 1 win under your belt," Pecatonica-Argyle coach Larry Green said.
Cory Linder had a 19-yard TD run in the first quarter to put the Vikings on the board. Treuthardt had a 44-yard TD run in the second quarter, and senior A.J. Hendrickson booted a 40-yard field goal to give the Vikings a 17-0 lead at the half.
Logan Green connected with Hendrickson on a 57-yard TD pass in the third quarter. Green hit Argue with a two-point conversion pass to extend the lead to 25-0. Green then hooked up with senior Kole Kent on a 28-yard TD pass. Green threw a strike to Hendrickson on a two-point conversion pass to give the Vikings a 33-0 lead. Treuthardt capped the scoring with a 33-yard TD run.
Arcadia 34, New Glarus-Monticello 21
ARCADIA - The Glarner Knights nearly pulled off an improbable comeback but fell short, losing a Division 5 game to Arcadia.
The Knights trailed by 21 points before rallying to tie it in the third quarter on a touchdown. Arcadia scored 13 unanswered points in the second half.
New Glarus-Monticello closes the season 6-4 with a Capitol South Conference championship.
In other playoff games, Fort Atkinson defeated Evansville-Albany 49-21 in Division 3, and Lodi beat Brodhead-Juda 49-28 in Division 4. Brodhead-Juda finishes the season 5-5, and Evansville-Albany closes the season 8-2 with a Rock Valley Conference title.
