ORFORDVILLE - The Black Hawk girls basketball team broke out of a first-half shooting slump and rolled to a 58-32 win over Parkview on Saturday.

Black Hawk (4-0, 1-0 Six Rivers East) led just 25-24 at the half and shot just 18 percent. In the second half, the Warriors outscored the Vikings 33-8 and shot 62 percent.

"We shot it poorly and they shot it well," Black Hawk coach Mike Flanagan said of the first half against Parkview. "That was the big difference. It was the tale of two halves shooting for us. To go into halftime up by one point after shooting so poorly, it's a reminder how important the other aspects of the game are."

Black Hawk freshman Hannah Butler scored a game-high 22 points. Freshman teammate Natalie Leuzinger added 14 points. Both junior Brianna Hagen and freshman Maddy Huschitt chipped in eight points.

Black Hawk junior Abby Argall had a team-high seven rebounds and junior Hannah Herbst had five assists.

Black Hawk hosts Barneveld on Tuesday in a Six Rivers East Conference showdown.

"We are trying hard not to make too much out of this game," Flanagan said. "It's an opportunity to play a team that has dominated the conference the last several years. We are going to see where we are at against a really good program."
