Black Hawk knocks off Argyle in 5

ARGYLE - Senior Brooke Moore and junior Sam Lovelace combined for four hits and the Black Hawk softball team took advantage of seven Argyle errors to knock off the Orioles 10-0 in five innings on Monday.

"It was absolutely frustrating," Argyle coach Heidi Ganshert said of the Orioles' seven errors. "We play one game and 10-run a team and then the next game we get 10-runned."

Black Hawk (5-4, 3-3 Six Rivers East) set the tone with a six-run first inning.

Both Moore and Lovelace went 2-for-3 for the Warriors.

Argyle junior Kayla Butler-Paulson pitched three innings and gave up two earned runs on 10 hits.

"Tonight Black Hawk played better than we did," Ganshert said. "They deserved the win."

Black Hawk limited the Orioles (5-8, 3-3) to four hits.

Argyle's Taylor Mathys pitched two shutout innings in relief and struck out two.



Juda-Albany 19, Pecatonica 2

ALBANY - Juda-Albany sophomore MacKenzie Byrne went 2-for-4 with two RBI and three runs scored to power the Panthers past Pecatonica.

Juda-Albany (8-4, 5-0 Six Rivers East) scored four runs in the first inning to jump out to an early lead. The Panthers broke the game open with a nine-run second to take a 13-0 lead.

Juda-Albany sophomore Maddie Roth had three RBI and scored two runs. Sophomore teammate Brook Kahler also had two RBI. There were 11 players who drove in at least one run for the Panthers.

Roth pitched a one-hitter over three shutout innings to get the win. She struck out four and didn't issue a walk. Junior teammate Sara Jordan pitched two innings and gave up one earned run on two hits. She struck out three and walked two.

Pecatonica senior Sarah Saether went 1-for-1 with one run scored and one walk.

Pec sophomore Ninah McKeon drove in a run and pitched a complete game, allowing 13 earned runs on nine hits. She struck out one and walked 11.

The Vikings committed five errors.



East Troy 13, Brodhead 6

BRODHEAD - Sophomore Azzy Steiner had three hits, but Brodhead lost a slugfest to East Troy.

East Troy had a four-run first inning.

The Cardinals pushed across three runs in the fourth to cut the Trojans' lead to 5-3. East Troy scored three more runs in the top of the fourth to take an 8-3 lead. The Cardinals responded with a three-run fourth to slice the Trojans' lead to 8-6. That's as close as Brodhead would get.

East Troy pounded out 17 hits, and Brodhead had 10 hits.

Brodhead junior Ali Rosheisen had two RBI, and junior Michelle Loeffelholz walked twice.

Steiner pitched a complete game and gave up 13 runs on 17 hits. She struck out seven.

The Cardinals had three errors.



Fennimore 12, Darlington 3

DARLINGTON - Errors plagued the Darlington softball team in a loss to Fennimore.

Darlington (1-4, 0-4 SWAL) committed seven errors and couldn't hang on to a 3-0 lead after a three-run first inning.

The Golden Eagles scored five runs in the third inning en route to the victory.

The Redbirds were limited to five hits, while Fennimore pounded out 12.
