Black Hawk dominates Albany

SOUTH WAYNE - Black Hawk senior Brooke Moore and junior Sam Lovelace each had a hot early run serving in the first set to help spark the Warriors volleyball team to a sweep of Albany on Tuesday.

Black Hawk rolled to a

25-6, 25-8, 25-14 win.

Moore had a run of eight straight service points and Lovelace served 11 consecutive points in the first set. Lovelace had a team-high seven kills along with seniors Aleigha Sigafus and Kayla Sigafus.

"That really sets the tone with strong serving," Black Hawk coach Rachel Wolff said.

With the win, Black Hawk improves to 6-2 in the Six Rivers East and remains atop the conference ahead of Argyle (4-2).

"We have to keep the momentum high," Wolff said. "This is the point of the season where you have to be polishing your game."

Moore had 14 assists and four aces.



Pecatonica 3, Barneveld 2

BARNEVELD - For the second time this season, Pecatonica knocked off Barneveld in five sets.

Pecatonica senior Britt Miller had a team-high 10 kills to lead the Vikings to a 25-22, 17-25, 17-25, 25-18, 15-6 win.

Pecatonica (5-3 Six Rivers East) moves into a third-place tie with Barneveld and Juda in the conference.

"I think it shows a lot of growth from us," Pecatonica coach Tori Leonard said. "We really dug deep to pull out the win. We have grown a lot."

The Golden Eagles missed several serves in the fourth set.

"That helped us get some momentum," Leonard said.

The Eagles had a serving error to start the final set, and the Vikings capitalized.

"We got off to a good start and never let up," Leonard said.

Pecatonica junior Liz Tisch had 16 assists and three blocks.

Barneveld's Teagan Pickarts had a team-high seven kills and notched four aces. Kelsee Fargo led the Eagles with 19 assists.



Juda 3, Monticello 2

MONTICELLO - After dropping a nail-biting fourth set, Juda responded to pull out a win over Monticello.

The Panthers edged the Ponies 28-26, 24-26, 25-23, 25-27, 16-14 in a see-saw affair.

"It was a marathon match," Monticello coach Scott Smice said. "We definitely had our opportunities. It was much more competitive this time around than last time. We are steadily improving. We have to get over that hump and find a way to win."

Juda junior Sara Jordan racked up a match-high 17 kills. Junior Alexis Goecks had 19 digs, and sophomore MacKenzie Byrne had 14 assists. Senior teammate Megan Powers had 12 assists, and sophomore Hailey Kammerer had six aces.

Monticello junior Bri Graber had eight kills, and junior Megan Lehr added seven kills for the Ponies. Junior Jessie Garrison dished out 29 assists and posted two aces. Monticello's Chandler Hansen had a team-best 24 digs.
