Black Hawk and Brodhead sweep opponents

SOUTH WAYNE - The Black Hawk Warriors now own a 33-game conference winning streak as they rolled over Barneveld Tuesday night, 25-10, 25-8, 25-9.

Senior Kim Wellnitz put down six kills and served up eight aces and junior Alyssa Piefer dished out 14 assists to lead the Warriors.

Black Hawk got offensive balance at the net as five other players delivered kills. Junior Melissa Wellnitz had five kills, senior Nicole Kloepfer and senior Katie Place each had four kills, junior Rachel Rygh had three kills, and Piefer added one kill to pace the Warriors.

In the third game, Wellnitz recorded 18 service points, helping Black Hawk cruise to the win.

The Warriors will participate in the North Crawford Invitational, Saturday before hosting Albany on Oct. 8.

Brodhead 3,

Beloit Turner 0

BELOIT - In Rock Valley South conference action, the Brodhead Cardinals swept the Beloit Turner Trojans 25-20, 25-10, 25-16, behind 13 kills and three blocks by senior Dana Lewis.

Senior Amanda Johnson had eight digs, and senior Megan Heller served nine aces to lift the Cardinals.

Freshman Amanda Pickel led the Cardinals in assists with 16.

Brodhead will compete in the Portage Invitational Saturday.

Boscobel 3, Darlington 0

BOSCOBEL - The Redbirds fell to the Boscobel Bulldogs in three games, 25-16, 25-13, 25-15, in SWAL Conference action, Thursday.

Junior Carly McDonald led Darlington with six kills and an ace.

Junior Chayse Hermanson had seven assists and junior Elizabeth Mathias came up with four digs for the Redbirds (0-6).

Darlington will host Fennimore, Tuesday.
