MAZOMANIE - Belleville-Albany's football team used a 21-point second quarter Friday to cruise past Wisconsin Heights, 35-18.
The Vanguards took a 6-0 lead after a four-yard touchdown run with 6 minutes, 36 seconds left in the first quarter.
But Belleville-Albany answered five seconds into the second quarter, as Mike Nolden crossed the goal line after a 14-yard pass from Collin Adams.
Nearly five minutes later, running back Nick Davis dashed 56 yards on a pass from Adams for the score, giving the Wildcats a 14-6 lead.
Wisconsin Heights scored its second touchdown on a 5-yard pass from Kyle Ballweg to Nick Genthe, but the 2-point conversion failed with 3:23 to play in the half.
Donovan Woods then scored from 18 yards out on Adams' third TD pass with just 52 seconds left in the half, giving Belleville-Albany a 21-12 lead.
Woods scored his second TD of the game just 1:07 into the third quarter on a 12-yard run. Davis made it 35-12 with a 16-yard run midway through the third.
Wisconsin Heights scored one last touchdown with 6:18 left.
Woods finished with 114 yards on 10 carries. Adams was 7 of 12 passing for 129 yards with the three scores and no interceptions.
The Wildcats gained 413 yards, including 284 on the ground. The Vanguards (0-8, 0-6 Capitol South) mustered just 164 yards on 55 plays, turning the ball over four times.
Belleville-Albany (3-5, 1-3) hosts Waterloo in the regular-season finale Thursday, Oct. 22.
Waterloo 21, New Glarus-Monticello 12
WATERLOO - The Glarner Knights' bid for a Capitol South Conference title was dealt a huge blow Friday.
A blocked extra-point, a failed 2-point conversion, and a fourth quarter touchdown by Waterloo's Devin Vendon put New Glarus-Monticello on the outside looking in.
The Knights (6-2, 3-1) need to beat Marshall (6-2, 4-0) at home Thursday, Oct. 22, to clinch a share of the title. Waterloo (6-2, 3-1) also is in the mix for a tie.
New Glarus-Monticello's Ryan Bright scored on a 4-yard run in the first quarter to give the Knights the lead. The kick was missed, however, and when Waterloo's Buddy Lincks ran in from six yards out in the second quarter, the Knights found themselves in a hole.
Lincks (115 yards, 16 carries) scored on a 3-yard run in the third. Cameron Jeglum scored NG-M's final TD on a 39-yard run.
Corey McGowan ran for 70 yards on 16 carries and Jeglum added 34 yards receiving.
Black Hawk 18, Cassville 13
CASSVILLE - The Warriors (3-5, 2-5 Six Rivers) shut out the Comets in the second half and Grant Roper scored the game-deciding touchdown in the third quarter.
Black Hawk went down 7-0 in the first quarter when Cassville scored on an 11-yard run.

Cassville (1-7, 1-7) bumped up its lead with another short TD run in the second quarter, but again Black Hawk answered.
