SOUTH WAYNE - Sophomore Jen Wellnitz delivered 12 kills and senior Kate Quinn added 11 kills to give the Black Hawk Warriors a 22-25, 25-11, 25-13, 25-7 victory over the Pecatonica Vikings in a Six Rivers East Conference volleyball match Tuesday.
Senior Chaesta Shager provided the Warriors a big lift with 10 assists and five aces. Pecatonica juniors Lizzy Britt and Michelle Francois each had four digs and Francois added nine assists. Britt topped the Vikings in blocks with four.
Black Hawk travels to Juda and Pecatonica hosts Barneveld Thursday.
Argyle 3, Barneveld 1
BARNEVELD - Senior Abby Flanagan powered the Orioles with 16 kills and junior Kayla Ostby dished out 34 assists as Argyle rolled past Barneveld, 23-25, 25-17, 25-19, 25-17 Tuesday.
Senior Danielle Treuthardt came up with a big game on offense and defense with six aces and four blocks for the Orioles.
Argyle (8-3, 4-1 Six Rivers East will host Black Hawk Tuesday.
Riverdale 3, Darlington 2
DARLINGTON - The Darlington Redbirds know they can compete with the Riverdale Chieftains. With the exception of game three, only two points separated the two teams in each game of a SWAL Conference volleyball match Tuesday.
The Redbirds won the first two sets 26-24, 25-23, but the Chieftains won the next two, 25-21, 25-23 and forced a fifth game in which Riverdale edged the Redbirds again, 15-13.
"It was a tough loss," said Darlington head coach Pam Ritchie. "But, Mallory Bush came off the bench and did a nice job for us. She came in at a pivitol point and made good plays and good decisions."
Junior Cassidy Chambers had six kills and 10 assists and senior Emily Salathe came up with 16 digs and six aces to lead Darlington. Junior Ala Merriam also had 16 digs and senior Laura Steiner added six blocks for the Redbirds.
Darlington (1-3 SWAL) will travel to Cuba City Thursday.
New Glarus 3, Marshall 1
MARSHALL - The Glarner Knights matched last year's conference win total and notched their second win of the season as they outlasted the Marshall Cardinals, 27-25, 25-23, 23-25, 25-19 in a Capitol South Conference match Tuesday.
Senior Heather Hustad led the Glarner Knights with five kills and four aces. Senior Alaina Legler racked up 16 assists and four aces while senior Jenna Romich delivered five kills.
New Glarus (1-2 Capitol South, 2-4 overall) will host Belleville Thursday.
Monticello 3, Juda 0
MONTICELLO - Sophomore Marissa Berg put down 12 kills and senior C.J. Dilley dished out 21 assists and four aces as the Monticello Ponies rolled to a 25-17, 25-20, 25-12 win over the Juda Panthers in a Six Rivers East Conference volleyball match Tuesday.
Junior Cassie Benner had six kills, and senior Katlyn DeVoe had nine digs for the Panthers.
Monticello will travel to Albany and Juda will host Black Hawk Tuesday.
