Beloit Turner clips Albany

ALBANY - Junior Haley Freitag and sophomore Payton Zurfluh combined to score 27 points for the Albany girls basketball team, but Evansville clipped the Comets 56-48 on Friday.

Albany (0-2) trailed by just six points at the half, 30-24. Freitag scored a team-high 14 points and Zurfluh added 13 points. Sophomore teammate Megan Anderson chipped in seven points.

The Comets shot 79 percent from the free-throw line (19 of 24).



Beloit Turner 52, Juda 40

JUDA - Beloit Turner junior Carsen Nitz scored a game-high 16 points to help the Trojans roll to a non-conference win over Juda on Friday.

The Trojans outscored the Panthers 30-18 in the first half. Beloit Turner senior Kenzie Krizmanich added 15 points. With the win, Beloit Turner improves to 2-0. With the loss, Juda drops to 1-1.

Juda senior Sara Jordan scored a team-high 13 points. Senior teammate Alexis Goecks added seven points and both junior MacKenzie Byrne and Hailey Kammerer each chipped in five points.

In another game, Darlington defeated Pecatonica 66-12.
