MONROE - One day after winning its first game, the Monroe boys hockey co-op lost to Beloit Memorial 16-0 at SLICE Tuesday.

Beloit Memorial's Noah Davis scored three goals for the hat trick. The Purple Knights had four other players score two goals including Cooper Clark, Riley Jensen, Tylar Jensen and Gaige Ott.

"We knew tonight was going to be a tough game, so a loss isn't a heartbreaker," Monroe Avalanche coach Josh Smith said. "Back-to-back games are always difficult even under the best of time, and playing against a good, physical team like Beloit that has four full lines was definitely not the best circumstance."

Monroe goaltender Dan Guilliams had 57 saves. The Purple Knights outshot the Avalanche 73-11.

Beloit Memorial scored five goals in the first period to set the tone for the game. Davis scored his first goal on an assist from Clark at 14 minutes, 15 seconds. About a minute later, Clark scored a goal to give the Purple Knights a 2-0 lead. Davis scored his second goal with 11:12 left in the first period. Beloit memorial's John West scored a goal on an assist from Hunter Harrington at 2:46 and Riley Jensen scored a goal at 1:17 to give the Purple Knights a 5-0 lead.

Monroe will play at Monona Grove Friday.

"We are just planning on building on Monday's win and preparing for our conference game on Friday against Monona Grove," Smith said.
