Belmont drops Argyle; Darlington wins

BELMONT - The Belmont Braves outscored the Argyle Orioles 40-18 over the second and third quarters to roll to a 67-43 win in non-conference action Tuesday.

Junior Nate Thomas topped the Orioles with 15 points and senior Kyle Geissbuhler scored 10 for Argyle (0-1 Six Rivers East, 0-4 overall).

Argyle will get back into conference play Friday when they travel to Monticello.

Darlington 66,

southwestern 42

HAZEL GREEN - Leading 32-20 at halftime, the Darlington Redbirds erupted for 28 points in the third quarter and held Southwestern to just six points in a 66-42 route of the winless Wildcats in a SWAL Conference matchup Tuesday night.

Darlington connected on eight 3-pointers and led 60-26 in the fourth quarter.

Junior Alex Erickson led all scorers with 25 points, while senior Tyler Shager had 13 and junior Tucker Wiegel added 10 for the Redbirds.

Darlington (3-0 SWAL, 6-0 overall) will host the Iowa-Grant Panthers Friday night in another SWAL Conference game.

Black Hawk 29, Highland 26

SOUTH WAYNE - Neither Black Hawk or Highland scored double-digits until the fourth quarter, but the 12 points scored by the Warriors in the period was enough to help them hold off the Cardinals, 29-26, in non-conference action.

T.J. Adams led the Warriors with nine points. Hayden Schliem and Cody Foster chipped in with six points each.

Black Hawk (3-3, 0-2 Six Rivers East) won't have another game until Jan. 5 when they travel to Cassville for another non-conference game..
