Beaver shines for Cheesemakers on road

MADISON - Monroe junior Angie Beaver came through with several big swims in a 110-59 dual meet loss to Madison Edgewood on Tuesday.

Beaver set a personal record time in her leg of the 400-meter freestyle relay in which the Cheesemakers won. Beaver swam a PR of 1 minute, 1.99 seconds in her 100 freestyle portion of the relay, combining with Anika Nelson, Sarah Kind and Rachel Root to take first with a time of 4:07.32. Beaver also took third place and set a PR in the 200 freestyle (2:21.16).

"It was a good night for Monroe," Monroe coach Linda Moser said. "The scoreboard didn't completely show it. They swam well tonight. There were 22 PRs. They put a lot on the line."

Kind finished second in the 100 freestyle (1:03.77) and the Cheesemakers' 200 freestyle relay team of Root, Beaver, Kind and Briana Katzenberger finished second with a time of 1:50.92. Beaver added a third place in the 100 backstroke. Monica Sefcik took third place with a PR in the 500 freestyle and Nelson finished fourth with a PR.

The Monroe JV team defeated Edgewood 63-48. Sophomore Alacia Keegan won the 100 freestyle (1:13.38).
