HOLLANDALE - With one fewer hit than the Glarner Knights, the Pecatonica Vikings still dug deep into their rotation and doubled up New Glarus in Tuesday's rain-makeup, non-conference baseball game, 12-6.
"Figure that one out," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said with a laugh. "Our pitchers made us play some defense, and it was good for us."
The Vikings' pitchers struck out just one batter, but the defense committed only one error in the game.
BELOIT TURNER 11, BRODHEAD 1
The pursuit of pitching continues for the Cardinals.
Parker Maveus went the distance for Brodhead, but got virtually no run support in a Rock Valley home matchup with Beloit Turner.
The Trojans struck for five in the fourth inning to all but put the game away with a commanding 8-0 lead.
