Avs Squirt A squad goes 1-1 in state tourney

MONROE - Travis Edmunds scored four goals and Tessa Janecke's overtime goal lifted the Avalanche Squirt A hockey team to a 6-5 overtime victory against Sauk Prairie in its Wisconsin Amateur Hockey Association playoff opener Saturday at Stoughton.

The Avalanche bowed out of the tournament later that day with a 5-2 loss to Reedsburg at Madison Ice Arena.

In the opener, Edmunds scored with 1 minute, 18 seconds left in the third period to force the sudden-death overtime period. Cade Janecke scored the other goal, Tessa Janecke added four assists and goaltender Heath Bear made 17 saves for the winners.

Joe Wyss and Tessa Janecke scored goals and Edmunds had two assists in the loss the Reedsburg. Bear recorded 19 saves.
