MONROE - The Monroe Avalanche Pee Wee B team defeated the Verona Pee Wee B Wildcats 4-2 in Verona Saturday, and beat the McFarland Spartans 9-0 Sunday.

On Saturday, the Avalanche found the back of the net when Luke Kuberski chased down a loose puck and lit the lamp, scoring unassisted to tie the game 1-1. During the second period, Kuberski found Rob Schroeder in front of the net, who scored his first goal of the season and put the Avalanche up 2-1.

The Kuberski brothers, Broc from Luke, found the puck in the third period to score and put Monroe up by two. Monroe Avalanche goaltender Aiden Runkle had 15 saves on the game.

In Game 2, the Pee Wee B Avalanche dominated the home opener against the McFarland Spartans from the start. During the first period, Luke Kuberski found Schroeder and Jared Dillon to give the Avalanche a 2-0 lead after one. In the second period, one goal was scored by Schroeder on an assist from Luke Kuberski to give Monroe a 3-0 lead to end the second period.

The Avalanche out-shot the Spartans 33-10. Avalanche Goaltender Aiden Runkle earned his first shutout of the season, saving all 10 shots in the game.

The Pee Wee B team will play at Middleton on Saturday and has two home games on Sunday, starting at 11:45 a.m. against Reedsburg and at 3:15 p.m. against the Polar Caps.



Avalanche Pee Wee A

The Avalanche PeeWee A team took to the ice in their season opener at home on Saturday and rolled past the Beloit Blades B 18-1.

Anika Einbeck scored a goal on an assist by Tessa Janecke and Hayden Roth. In the first period alone, the Avalanche scored 10 goals. Scoring for the Avalanche were Anika Einbeck (four goals), Jayden Johnson, Tessa Janecke (two goals), Cade Janecke (two goals), Hayden Roth, Payton Stauffacher (three goals), Alvin Buholzer, Ryan Molitor (three goals), and Haley Knauf. Earning assists were Tessa Janecke (four), Hayden Roth (five), Cade Janecke (five), Ryan Molitor, Haley Knauf (two), Alyssa Knauf (two), and Alvin Buholzer. The Avalanche outshot the Blades 54-1.

On Sunday, the Avalanche PeeWee A team traveled to Beloit to take on the Blades A team. The Avalanche blanked the Blades 8-0 in a physical matchup.

Anika Einbeck and Tessa Janecke each earned a hat trick. Tessa Janecke had four goals in the game and Cade Janecke lit the lamp for one. Earning assists were Alyssa Knauf, Cade Janecke (two), Payton Stauffacher, Jayden Johnson, Tessa Janecke (two), and Hayden Roth. The Avalanche out-shot the Blades 50-9. Goalie Heath Bear recorded his first shutout of the season.
