The Avalanche U12 girls hockey team posted a 2-2 tie and lost 2-1 in games against the Milwaukee Winter Club last weekend.
Emma Ness scored both Avalanche goals and Tessa Janecke had an assist in Saturday's game at SLICE. Jenna Schmerbach recorded 31 saves to preserve the tie.
On Sunday, Alyssa Knauf scored on an assist from Janecke early in the first period, but the host Milwaukee Winter Club held on for a the one-goal victory. Schmerbach had 20 saves with help from a defensive crew including Haley Knauf, Ally Einbeck, Cammi Ganshert and Ness.
Squirt A drops pair
Joe Wyss scored two goals and Travis Edmunds had a goal and an assist as the Avalanche Squirt A team dropped a 6-3 decision to Waunakee on Saturday at Slice. Haley Knauf also had an assist and goaltender Heath Bear made 33 saves.
The Squirt A club hit the road on Sunday and lost 4-2 to the Janesville J-Hawks. Alyssa Knauf scored off Tessa Janecke's assist to open the scoring, and Edmunds also had a goal, assisted by Wyss and Payton Stauffacher. Bear made 21 saves.
