Avalanche Squirt teams split two games

MONROE - The Avalanche Squirt A team hosted the Southwest Eagles Squirt A team on Nov. 10 and lost 7-1.

Luke Kuberski scored the only Avalanche goal on an assist by Tessa Janecke. Goalie Heath Bear recorded 48 saves.

On Sunday, Nov. 1, the Avalanche Squirt A traveled to McFarland and shut out the Spartans Squirt A, 3-0. Cade Janecke scored the first Avalanche goal on an assist from Payton Stauffacher and Luke Kuberski, with less than one second left in the first period. Tessa Janecke added two more goals in the second period.

The strong defensive line consisted of Payton Stauffacher, Haley Knauf, Alex Henry, Roman Bauer, and Broc Kuberski kept the Spartans at bay. Bear recorded 21 saves, while the Avalanche had 16 shots on goal.

The Avalanche Squirt A takes on Janesville at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, at SLICE.

Squirt B

The Avalanche Squirt B fell to the Stoughton Squirt A team 6-1 at home on Saturday. Ethan Williams scored the only Avalanche goal. Goalie Aiden Runkle recorded 18 saves.

On Sunday, the Avalanche traveled to McFarland. In a tight contest, the Avalanche shut out the Spartans Squirt B, 1-0. Williams scored the lone Avalanche goal on an assist by Ryan Molitor. Runkle recorded five saves.

The Avalanche will travel to take on Oregon Squirt B at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

Pee Wee team drops two

The Avalanche Hockey PeeWee team hosted Baraboo on Saturday, and lost a hard fought game 6-4. Avalanche goals were scored by Joe Wyss, Connor Nafzger, and Cade and Tessa Janecke. Assisting on goals were Travis Edmunds, Riley Jones, Tessa Janecke and Wyss.

On Sunday, the team traveled to Waunakee and lost to the DC Diamonds U14 team, 4-1. Wyss scored the Avalanche's lone goal on an assist from Jared Cline. Jayden Johnson had 33 saves in net for the Avalanche.

The team will travel to Waunakee for a game on Saturday and will host Sun Prairie on Sunday.
