Avalanche PeeWee A tie Verona

MONROE - The Avalanche PeeWee A team hosted the Verona Wildcat A team and tied 4-4 on Sunday.

The Wildcats opened scoring in the second period. Cade Janecke responded with an unassisted goal. Jayden Johnson scored a goal on an assist by Janecke. Janecke scored another goal at the end of the second period to give the Avalanche a 3-2 lead. The Wildcats scored two more goals in the third period.

Hayden Roth got on the scoreboard for the Avalanche. Goalie Heath Bear recorded 25 saves. The Avalanche next take on Janesville A at home on Saturday.



PeeWee B

After opening the season winning four games in a row, the Pee Wee B Avalanche had their winning streak come to a halt as they lost two games last weekend to the Madison Polar Caps and the Sun Prairie Cardinals.

In the first game on Saturday, Nov. 22 the Avalanche hosted the Polar Caps at SLICE arena and lost 11-0. The game started out pretty even with the Avalanche down only 2-0 after the first period. But the Avalanche lost some steam in the second period as the Caps pulled away scoring five goals.

Avalanche Goaltender Aiden Runkl had 50 saves while the Polar Caps launched over 60 shots on net.

In Game 2, the PeeWee B team traveled to Sun Prairie and again, the Avalanche started out strong against the Cardinals but the Cardinals were just too tough and skated to an 8-2 win.

The Avalanche goal came from Bryce Montgomery and Ruger Hansen who fought hard in front of the net and eventually put the puck in. Montgomery was recorded with the goal with an assist from Hansen. Heading into the third period, the Avalanche trailed 5-1. Avalanche player Rebekah Rath scored a goal on a rebound shot from Luke Kuberski who received a pass from his brother Broc Kuberski to get the play started. Both Kuberski's received assists on the goal.

The Avalanche Pee Wee B team (4-2) take on Janesville B at home at 10:45 a.m. and then on Sunday travel to Stoughton to take on the Stoughton A team at 12:40 p.m.



U14 Girls

The U14 Avalanche girls hosted the Beloit Blades PeeWee A team and lost 5-4 on Sunday.

Alyssa Knauf opened the scoring with an assist by Cammi Ganshert 42 seconds into the game. The Blades responded with two goals. Tessa Janecke scored a goal on an assist from Ganshert at the end of the first period, tying up the game 2-2.

Knauf scored her second goal on an assist from Janecke in the second period. The Blades added two more goals in the second period. Janecke scored a goal on an assist by Ganshert (earning a playmaker), and Lilah Bauer scored halfway through the third, but the Avalanche couldn't stop the Blades from scoring one more.

Goalie Allison Esch recorded 26 saves. The U14 Girls next take on DC Diamonds at home Dec. 7.



Bantams

The Avalanche Bantam team lost their first game of the season on Sunday at SLICE against Waunakee B, 7-5.

The Avalanche led 2-1 after the first period. Scoring goals were Joe Wyss on an assist by Ty O'Connor and Payton Stauffacher on assists by Travis Edmunds and Wyss.

In the second period, Wyss was pulled down on a breakaway and was awarded a penalty shot that he converted to give Monroe a 3-1 lead. Waunakee scored the next two goals to tie the game, but Edmunds answered with back-to-back goals on assists by Jared Cline and O'Connor to make the score 5-3.

Waunakee scored the next three goals to take the lead. The Avalanche pulled their goalie to add another attacker late in the third period to try and tie the game, but Waunakee scored an empty-net goal to seal the victory.

Goalie Jayden Johnson had 19 saves.
