MONROE - The Avalanche Pee Wee B Team opened up their season with a 6-2 win over Middleton Nov. 4.
Gavin Roth scored a goal to give Monroe the lead. The Avalanche would not relinquish that lead as Roth added another goal toward the end of the first period to take a 2-0 lead.
Xander Obert scored a goal to start the second period on assists from Roth and Haden Barker. D.J. Rath and Ethan Rosenstiel joined the scoring with a goal each, as did Payton Hathaway on an assist from Carson Kurschner to end the second period.
Goalie Kyle Theorin had 11 saves.
On Nov. 5, the team was back on the ice in Monroe and skated to a 6-0 win over the Polar Caps. It was the Payton Hathaway show, as he led the team in scoring, assists, and penalty minutes.
Haden Barker scored a goal on an assist from Jaryn Fonseca midway in the first period for the Avalanche. Hathaway collected one of his three goals at the end of the first period to make it 2-0 Avalanche.
Barker got his second goal of the game early in the second period on an assist from Hathaway. The defense took over the rest of the period, holding the Polar Caps to just six shots in the second.
Hathaway started the third period scoring when he snapped in his second goal of the game on a pass from Ethan Rosenstiel. Midway through the third, Roth scored on an assist from Hathaway. Hathaway capped off the scoring with his third goal on a pass by Carson Kurschner.
