MONROE - Monroe junior Tyler Johnson scored two goals but Stouhgton skated to a 10-2 win over the Monroe boys hockey co-op team Tuesday at SLICE.

Stoughton jumped out to a 5-0 lead in the first period. The Avalanche had six penalties and the Vikings capitalized with three power-play goals. The Vikings outshot the Avalanche 40-21.

"We couldn't clear Stoughton out from in front of our net, and it just killed us," Monroe coach Josh Smith said.

Johnson scored his first goal on an assist from Cade Martin at the 16-minute, 16-second mark in the third period. His second goal came about 4 minutes later on another Martin assist.

Monroe goalie Dan Guilliams had 30 saves.

Monroe (1-18, 0-9 Badger South) will resume a game against Madison La Follette at 7 p.m. Thursday at SLICE.
