Athletes of the Week Oct. 4-9

The Athletes of the Week nominations are:

Monroe

Monroe senior Kelsey Erickson and junior Brooke McBain: The No. 1 doubles duo qualified for the WIAA Division 1 state tennis tournament. Erickson and McBain defeated Milton's Brooke Negus and Megan Burandt 7-5, 6-0 at the Lake Geneva Badger sectional to earn a state berth.

Kelli Isaj: The senior scored three goals in the Cheesemakers' 11-0 win over Wisconsin Dells in the Badger Challenge.

Jaclyn Ditter: The senior had seven kills in a 25-21, 25-11, 25-20 loss to Monona Grove.

Area Boys

Jesse DeLorme, Brodhead-Juda: The junior rushed for 180 yards and scored three touchdowns in the Cardinals' 42-19 win over Palmyra-Eagle.

Tucker Wiegel, Darlington: The senior rushed for 105 yards and scored four touchdowns including a 101-yard kick return in the Redbirds' 58-0 win over Boscobel.

Tyler Dorn, New Glarus-Monticello: The senior rushed for 169 yards and scored three touchdowns in a 27-23 loss to Waterloo.

Area Girls

Naomi Black, Darlington: The sophomore shot an 87 at the Madison Edgewood sectional at Yahara Hills. She won a playoff to qualify for the state golf tournament.

Bailey Hlavachek, Albany: The freshman finished third at the Baertschi Invitational and helped the Comets win the small school division.

Kaitlyn Schulz, Albany: The senior had 14 kills, 13 digs and three blocks in a 23-25, 25-11, 25-6, 25-8 win over Pecatonica to help the Comets stay unbeaten in the Six Rivers East.
