ARGYLE - The Argyle volleyball team, which has already clinched a Six Rivers East Conference championship, kept an unbeaten run in conference alive by sweeping Monticello Tuesday.
Sam Mick had six kills and five aces to help the Orioles (13-7, 11-0 Six Rivers East) knock off Monticello 25-16, 25-19, 27-25.
"I was really proud of Sam Mick tonight," Argyle coach Jen Butler said. "She really stepped it up with her hitting, blocking and serving. She played the net aggressive."
Argyle sophomore Jena Saalsaa and junior Ashley Bruehlman each added six kills. Bruehlman also notched 14 digs. Argyle senior Kayla Butler-Paulson dished out 19 assists and also had five aces, and Dorissa DeNure had three blocks.
"We started out kind of slow," Butler said. "Our passing got stronger. We are starting to play a little better."
Monticello senior Brie Graber had a team-high eight kills and sophomore Hannah Zanow added seven kills. Senior Jessie Garrison posted a match-high 22 assists. Brittany Disch had three blocks. Monticello's Megan Lehr, Courtney Kammes and Graber each notched three aces.
Monticello drops to 5-6 Six Rivers East.
Darlington 3, Southwestern 1
DARLINGTON - Darlington entered Tuesday's match tied atop the Southwest Wisconsin Activities League with Cuba City, and the Redbirds took care of business by clipping Southwestern.
Senior Taryn Rankin had a team-best 12 kills to lead the Redbirds to a 25-22, 27-25, 23-25, 25-19 win.
Darlington junior Kennedy Rankin delivered 11 kills and had a team-high six digs. Senior Taylor Jacobson had three blocks and three aces. Senior Callie Norton racked up 19 assists.
Darlington improves to 15-4, 8-3 SWAL.
Juda 3, Pecatonica 0
BLANCHARDVILLE - Senior Alexis Goecks had a team-high 18 digs and the Panthers rode their defense to a 25-20, 25-14, 25-19 sweep of Pecatonica.
Juda senior Chelsea Burkhalter posted 15 assists and three aces to lead the Panthers (10-8, 7-4 Six Rivers East).
"They are a really scrappy team," Pecatonica coach Jennah Schliem said of Juda. "They are good defensive team. It's hard to beat a good defensive team like that. There is a reason why they are second in the conference."
Juda junior Hailey Kammerer added two blocks.
Pecatonica was led by Hannah Kittleson and Taetum Pagel, who each delivered 10 kills. Senior Liz Tisch had 18 assists and Ninah McKeon had nine digs. Grace Keast posted three blocks for the Vikings (4-10, 3-9 Six Rivers East).
Barneveld 3, Black Hawk 2
SOUTH WAYNE - Barneveld's Teegan Pickarts delivered 16 kills and two aces to propel the Golden Eagles over Black Hawk.
Black Hawk topped Barneveld in the first set 25-15. The Eagles came back and edged the Warriors 25-22 in the second set. Black Hawk grabbed the momentum by winning the third set 25-17. However, Barneveld responded by upending the Warriors 25-22 and 15-8 in the final two sets.
Black Hawk senior Sammy Lovelace had a team-best 14 kills and four aces. Junior Hannah Herbst dished out 18 assists, and Sydney Delzer added three blocks.
Barneveld's Taryn Pickarts had 15 assists, and sophomore Abigail Sutter racked up 22 assists.
Cambridge 3, New Glarus 1
NEW GLARUS - Cambridge's Nicole Peterson had a match-high 14 kills and the Blue Jays edged New Glarus on Senior Night.
Peterson added 15 digs to lead Cambridge to a 22-25, 25-20, 25-15, 25-19 win.
Senior Devon Boll had a team-high seven kills, six digs and three aces for New Glarus (4-24, 0-9 Capitol South). Senior Olivia Woodmansee had 21 assists and senior Madison Perkins had a team-best 12 digs.
Brodhead 3, Palmyra-Eagle 0
PALMYRA - Brodhead sophomore Abbey Johnson had 12 kills and 18 assists to lead the Cardinals to a 25-19, 25-21, 25-13 sweep of Palmyra-Eagle.
Junior Chandra Clark came through with seven kills and seven assists for the Cardinals.
Brodhead-Juda's Erin Nyhus notched a team-high four aces and had five assists. Brooke Bescup added three aces and had three digs.
