NEW GLARUS - Both the Argyle-Pecatonica and New Glarus boys golf teams are headed for sectional action after their performances in the WIAA Division 3 New Glarus regional on Wednesday.
Mineral Point shot a 347 to win the regional title by three strokes over runner-up Argyle-Pecatonica (350). The top four teams advance to the sectional. New Glarus finished third (356). Darlington finished ninth (427) in the 10-team regional.
It is the fifth straight year Argyle-Pecatonica has qualified for the sectional as a team and the second straight year for the Glarner Knights. Both the Vikings and Knights advance to the WIAA Division 3 Markesan sectional Tuesday at Lawsonia Golf Course in Green Lake.
Argyle-Pecatonica senior Matthew Amorose shot a 4-over-par 76 to finish second at the Edelweiss Chalet Country Club.
New Glarus sophomore Matt Hach and Argyle-Pecatonica junior Mason Holcomb tied for third place (81).
New Glarus junior Cole Runde tied Barneveld senior Seth Adelman for 11th with an 89. New Glarus senior Cade Beutler tied Barneveld's Owen Pechan for 13th (90). Sophomore Jack Erickson carded a 96 to round out the top four for the Glarner Knights.
The other two top golfers for the Vikings were junior Alex Ryser, who finished with a 96, and junior Dylan Stietz, who carded a 97.
The top golf for Darlington was junior Brogen Evenstad who tied for 15th (91). Junior Seth Johnson shot a 107, sophomore Cole Roelli carded a 108, and freshman Cody Crist finished with a 121.
