HIGHLAND - Argyle boys basketball coach Scott Noll credited senior Alec Treuthardt's defense for being a difference maker in the Orioles' 60-52 win over Highland Tuesday.
Treuthardt was switched defensively to guarding Levi Linshied. After scoring 11 points against other defenders, Treuthardt held Linshied to just two points the rest of the way.
"He (Linshied) was on a roll," Noll said. Once we did that (switch Treuthardt over to Linshied) he only scored two points. Treuthardt's defense changed the game."
Argyle sophomore Riley Ostby scored a game-high 29 points and grabbed 13 rebounds. Senior Christopher Severson scored 14 points and Treuthardt added 10.
New Glarus 51, Mauston 40
NEW GLARUS - Landon Zimmerman showed off some of his post moves to propel New Glarus to a 51-40 non-conference win over Mauston.
Zimmerman scored a team-high 13 points to pace the Glarner Knights and Caleb Fredrickson added 11 points.
"He scored all of his points on the block," New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said of Zimmerman. "We did a good job of getting it into him."
The Knights jumped out to a 13-7 lead and led by 13 points at the half.
"I think it all started out with our defense," Sysko said. "I think we did a great job of pressuring the ball, getting some turnovers and getting some points in transition."
