ARGYLE - Senior Riley Ostby scored a game-high 24 points to lead the Argyle High School boys basketball team to a 53-45 nonconference win over Potosi Tuesday night.
Ostby hit two 3-pointers and also did damage from the inside.
"I think we had some difficulty running our base offense early on," Argyle coach Justin Jenson said. "In the second half, we ran our offense more efficiently. Riley was getting looks inside and getting to the free-throw line.
"One of our goals is finishing games. They haven't always done that in the past. They finished the game tonight."
Argyle (2-0) led just 24-22 at the half. The Orioles went on a 10-0 run in the second half to open up a 12-point lead.
Argyle junior Collin Argue added eight points, and senior Kyle Emberson chipped in seven points.
The Orioles shot 56 percent from the free-throw line (14 of 25).
Argyle will play at New Glarus at 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
"It will be a good test for us," Jenson said of playing New Glarus. "We will see if we can build off of our two wins."
New Glarus 83, Columbus 77
COLUMBUS - New Glarus senior Trey Taylor scored a career-high 32 points, including two 3-pointers, to lead the Glarner Knights (2-0) past Columbus.
"Trey is one of the fastest guys on the team," New Glarus coach Travis Sysko said. "Guys did a great job of finding him in transition.
"I thought it had the potential to be a high-scoring game with the extra time they have on the clock this year."
New Glarus and Columbus were tied at 38 at the half. The Knights outscored the Cardinals 45-39 in the second half.
Taylor was one of four New Glarus players in double figures. Freshmen Jaden Kreklow and Zach Feller each scored 15 points. Senior teammate Gavin Binger added 12 points.
