ARGYLE - Junior Collin Argue delivered a two-run walk-off single off Albany junior pitcher Brock Gilkes to give Argyle a thrilling 5-4 win over the Comets on Monday.

Albany led Argyle 4-3 going into the bottom of the seventh inning. Argyle's Josh Lehman led off with a single off Gilkes. Brent Ritschard laid down a bunt, but Lehman was thrown out at second base. Gilkes then walked Argyle's Mitch Flannery and two runners moved into scoring position on a wild pitch. The Comets intentionally walked senior Riley Ostby to set the stage for Argue.

Argue had two hits and three RBI to lead the Orioles (10-9, 7-5 Six Rivers East). Argyle junior Cam Treuthardt had two hits.

Ostby pitched a complete game to get the win. He gave up four runs on seven hits and struck out seven.

Albany senior Cole Trapp had two hits.

Gilkes pitched 61⁄3 innings and gave up five runs on six hits. He struck out three and walked two.

Pecatonica 12, Barneveld 4

BLANCHARDVILLE - The middle of Pecatonica's lineup did a lot of damage in powering the Vikings over Barneveld.

Pecatonica's Nos. 3 through 5 hitters went a combined 6-for-9 with eight RBI.

"They were the story of the game for us offensively," Pecatonica coach Jim Strommen said.

Junior A.J. Hendrickson went 2-for-2 with a double and three RBI. Senior Kyle Kleppe went 2-for-3 with a double and two RBI. Senior cleanup hitter Gavin Burdick went 2-for-4 with a triple and three RBI.

Pecatonica freshman Carter Ruegsegger pitched a complete game to get the win. He gave up three of his four earned runs in the second inning on six hits. Ruegsegger settled in and retired 10 straight batters after that.

"He had a little bit better location and kept the ball down after that," Strommen said.

Pecatonica, which already captured the Six Rivers East crown, improved to 20-1 overall and 14-0 in the conference.
